This oil painting depicts the Sikh warrior Hari Singh Nalwa, the commander-in-chief of the Sikh Empire's army. "Nalwa" was a title bestowed on the teenager Hari Singh by Maharaja Ranjit Singh after the former single-handedly killed a tiger with his bare hands, saving Ranjit Singh's life.
